Metropolitan Glicherie (1891–1985)—Glorified as a Saint in June of 1999 by the True (Old Calendar) Orthodox Church of Romania—was a pivotal figure among the Romanian Old Calendarists. Having known him personally for many years, Metropolitan Vlasie provides a firsthand portrait of a heroic struggler for True Orthodoxy who was miraculously saved from death by the Mother of God.

About the AuthorThe Most Reverend Vlasie is the President of the Holy Synod of the True (Old Calendar) Orthodox Church of Romania. His Eminence received his theological education and monastic training at the Monastery of the Holy Transﬁguration in Slătioara, Romania. In 1992, he was awarded the Licentiate in Orthodox Theological Studies *honoris causa by the Directors and Examiners of the C.T.O.S.
